About Us

St. John’s United Methodist Church was built on January 26, 1890. Over the years, St. John’s has adapted to meet the needs of community. Even though St. John’s has experienced hardship, we consider the hardship as an opportunity to increase our faith in God and bind our love and fellowship one with the other.

St. John’s has been a place where people share life and faith in Jesus Christ. We’re a church committed to mission in Buena Vista and around the world as we strive to be a beacon of hope. Our Staff

Pastor

Rev. Hungsu Lim has been St. John’s pastor since July 2023. He has served churches in Winchester, Fairfax, Nelson County, and Richmond since 2009. Hungsu is passionate about studying and teaching the Bible and building relationships with people and sharing lives as a community. He is originally from Seoul, Korea, and earned a Master of Divinity and a M.T.S. from Wesley Theological Seminary, and a Th. M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, NJ.

He has been married to his lovely wife, Eunji Kim. They have their adorable daughter, Jaynie. He likes to play basketball and pickleball, watch movies, ride a bike, and simply play with his daughter. Pastor Hungsu can be reached by email at pastor@stjohnsbv.org or by calling (540) 261-3304
